How to test Hydraulic pressure

Hi I have a 1980 john deere 300b with some hydraulic issues. Only at full rpms do the loader and backhoe function with few issues. When brought back to a idle the hydraulic controls continue to work for the next 5 minutes then stow down and eveuntaly stop. I would like to check the hydraulic pressure of my pump. I have the tool just was wondering how to hook it up and test, and where to hook the tool up,for an accurate reading. Thank you and god bless!

Chris, I have a video on my website showing the process, but I suspect your machine has Closed Center Hydraulics and probably no QD's ports to plug into I can't advise the correct procedure. You might want to check eBay for some technical manuals for your machine to be sure of the proper way to do it, and what the specs should be.

Yes 300B is closed center hyd's just tee into any high pressure hyd supply line to get stand-by pressure
