Hey Guys, Last week I read a post about how to shrink photos to post them on TBN. I tried a search but could not locate it. Does anyone remember such a post and could you direct me to it? Thanks.

I don't know about the post, but I use something called PIXresizer. Do a search for it. Hope this helps.
Several of us have posted instructions lately, so I'm not sure which post you mean.
Whatever picture editing software you using, simply open your picture in that program, and look for where you set the image quality. Most times, it will be defaulted to 72 dots per inch (DPI). If you lower this to somewhere in the 60s DPI, you should be able to get the file down to around 96,000 bytes, or 96K which is actually almost 100,000 bytes in reality and can be posted without losing size.
If you're using Adobe Photoshop, simply click file/ save for web, and set reduce the quality until you see that it is less than 100K.
If you click on my name, then send a private message, tell me the name of the program you're using, I'll try to tell you exactly where to go to find what you need to do.

Here's a link to a selection of freeware photo utilities. The one I use for shrinking is Photo Resizer. Really easy.

Try a free program called Irfanview.
Under the IMAGE command, there is a RESIZE/RESAMPLE command that reduces the size of a pic.
Sometimes, you have to reduce the resolution as well as resize the picture, by the way. When you make any changes, check the properties of the picture file to make sure you're under the 100K limitation.
Irfanview is free, BTW.

Download Irfanview from the link above. Then.....
1) Make sure you open your photo with Irfanview.
2) Click on image and look for resize/resample and click. Another window will open.
3) Where the blue highlight is (width), change that to 700 or less and click OK.
4) Now click on file and go to "save as" and another window will open. You should see another blue highlight for file name. Keep that file name and put a (-1) after it. (example: Tractor...Tractor-1)
5) Click OK.
6) Your new resized photo should be ready to post on TBN located where ever you saved it to. If it's still a little to big, use the original photo and change the 700 to say 650 and try that. SAVE THAT PHOTO AS TRACTOR-2. I like to keep the original.
A little trial and error plus some practice and you should be all set. That's how I learned, trial and error. Feel free to PM me anytime. Good luck.

If you have a Microsoft operating system, which came with Microsoft Photo Editor (most of them do), then:
1) open the jpeg
2) go to File->Save As
3) at the bottom of the save as window, there should be a button that says "more", hit that
4) that drops down an option at the bottom of the save as window allowing you to select "jpeg quality factor"
5) lower "jpeg quality factor" on the sliding bar and hit save
6) check image size in KB, and if it's still over 100kb, then keep dropping "jpeg quality factor" until it is less than 100k
If it's not a jpeg, I'm not sure if the above will work.

Every computor has "paint" installed in it. You can resize with that without a spy-ware filled free-ware download. It will also re-format to .bit, .jpeg, .gif, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I thought Photo Editor came with all the Microsoft operating systems also. I could be wrong though. I didn't recommend Paint because my version of Paint won't save a jpeg, and it won't change the image resolution. Perhaps the newer releases of Paint have changed, my computer is about 6 or 7 years old now.
