Snow How to set up a L3130 for snow removal?

When I owned my L3130 grand I had it set up with a sub-frame and six foot plow,along with the rear blade.Power angle was also installed by the dealer.I beleive it cost about $2,000 at the time.Rear blade works well for backing up to a building and pulling the snow away,I also would drop it when plowing forward.For your amount of snow-fall I think this would be a great set-up.
The only limit with this set-up is that you can't bank as high as a fel mounted plow.

Here's my take...

Lots of snow = blower
Long driveway = plow
Long driveway + lots of snow = blower
Little to medium snowfall = rear blade
Moderate snow with occasional big storm = rear blade + FEL

For your needs, a simple manual adj. rear blade offers a high value solution. Inexpensive and very effective for typical snowfalls <1', especially if bigger storms are only occasional. And remember, you can always clear the path more than once if it looks like it will become to much to handle all at once.

The relative value of an inexpensive rear blade only starts to go down if you are clearing snow frequently. There is an order of magnitude difference in price going from a rear blade to a plow or blower. Then again, a blower is the Cadillac option and if you got da money - I saw go for it!

For the not so frequant snow falls and distances I think your best bet is a front mounted blade that is about 16" wider than the track width angled at least to one side (could be manual angle).
For best results you would want to be pushing from the sub frame and not the loader as loader attachement will simply 'lift' the front wheels and result in lack of steerage.
For 'up close work' ie; garage doors etc you would like a hinged 'back blade' attachement that would allow you to drive close, drop the blade and pull back the snow.
Works real good!
The closer the push blade is to the tractor frame the easier it will be to retain steering while plowing.
I have a rear blower and short coupled front plow and can plow 'flat out' in high gear and simply peel the snow off to the side when accumulations are in the 4-5" or less.
In my case blower is needed as our totals run 200" and more and the sides can take only so much before narrowing the roadbeds.
You do want the blade to be wider than tracks when in angle position.

Thanks guys for your great suggestions and advice. This is really a nice forum. I'm thinking of trying a front plow. I talked with a Kubota service tech today and he informed me that since I have a fel with skidsteer attachment I can simply buy a skidsteer mount snowplow and use the hydraulics for the rollback function of the fel. I would just need to buy a longer hoses to reach the plow from the quick disconnect hydraulic hookup. After driving my JD GX345 with plow I do not think I would be happy with just a rear blade, although I might invest in one to pull away snow from garage doors etc.

Heres my L3400 with a old Meyer 6 1/2' blade. I bought the plate off ebay and welded on the plow mounts along with a receiver hitch. Very handy. Plan on adding power angle to it sometime in the summer, when its warm!

Glad to see that posted... I just bought my B7510 with my new house and those are the attachments the previous owner has (along with the mower deck). I'm about 80 miles north of Cincinnati and I believe that description is the best for my area.

I never really knew you could plow well with the rear blade but he showed me how he does it and it sounds like a sweet set up.

We're moving in around March 1st so I probably won't get to use it for that until next year... not sure if that should get a or a though

Nice set up...I didn't want the hassle of having to swap between the bucket and the blade so I just welded to plow attachment inside my bucket. Plow the snow. drop the blade and then stack the piles up if needed...

waiting for my rear remotes to arrive to add power angle as well..

Hi all,

I have a B7800 with front loader and back blade. The back blade works
perfectly. I don't, however, need to look back often. I just angle the blade and drive over the new snow. The blade scrapes down to gravel, and once the gravel freezes it stays put. I know this approach may sound counterproductive, in driving over fresh snow and plowing from behind, but it
works well and you can plow very quickly. And no stiff neck.
