How to remove gear box Kubota RC 44 series mower decks

I need to remove the deck gearbox to replace the belt on my RC44-42 mower deck. I'm assuming that I need to remove the snap ring inside the gearbox and lift the gear box off, after removing side bolts that anchor it to the deck. Does this sound correct or is there some easier way? There is insufficient room to slide the belt under the input shaft as the deck is only about a quarter inch below the shaft and the belt is about twice that in thickness.

Haven't seen that particular deck, but on the bigger decks, you pull the blade, then the 4 bolts that hold the gearbox on and it comes off.

You remove the 4 bracket bolts from the right side only (looking from the back side of the gear box). The belt will slip from underneath the front of the gearbox in order to replace it.
