How to remove dead tree?

/ How to remove dead tree? #22
Expanding a little more on my tree removal technique -
I have mostly oaks that were downed by a microburst last year. This summer I had a big one to remove. I dug a trench five feet deep around it and pushed and pulled until I broke it loose. Then I puzzled how to remove it from the hole with my jd2320 which isn't all that strong.
To cut down the weight, I pressure washed it with a zero degree nozzle to remove a lot of mud and stones. Then I grabbed it with the bh bucket and drove away from the hole. On the third try I managed to pull it out of the hole. Conservatively it weighed about 800 pounds.
Boy did I ever get dirty pressure washing it. I had to wash myself down with the garden hose before I could go into the house for a shower.
Afterwards I realized that I should have dug a trench and pulled it up that with a chain.
I rewashed the stump/tap root until I was able to remove all the dirt and burn it.

I have pushed trees down, cut them down, dug up stumps, and dragged the remains around...

If it is dead, cut it about 4 or 5 feet above the ground, and use the "stump" for leverage to push it out.

I have done this a few times... try to dig around it and then cut all the roots, then push the top....

Someone on here actually had a step by step with pics...

be safe and take care!!!
