Friends, I have been using my recently acquired BX2200 FEL to clear snowfrom our walkway. The problem I have is getting the blade close enough to the walkway surface without cutting into it and dislodging the stones that are loosely imbedded in this pea stone. To protect the surface, I tend to back off, which results in a very uneven surface. Is there some sort of rig or attachment to the FEL that would float the blade at a fixed height so I can put downward pressure on it to dig into the snow without marring the walkway surface.
Many thanks

HI...

Hmmmm... try clearing the snow a couple inches above the surface going forward... then back blade the remaining 2" away... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well float and down pressure are mutually exclusive features.
Either you float the bucket or you use down force.

Perhaps you could cut a strip of horse mat to put on the bucket lip. This would let you apply pressure without scraping up the stone.

If that is an aggregate walk way I wouldn't use the loader on it at all. I have a walk way with the aggregate and the contractor told me never to use anything other than a plastice shovel. Two reasons, one, you will pull up the little rocks and two, there is a sealer on the aggregate(which reminds me, I forgot to put my on last fall) that you will wear out prematurely. If I was you, get a rubber strip for your bucket or a back blade with a rubber strip.

Again not sure if you are talking about an aggregate type.
