How to make a tractor pay for itself?

As you say that you are only mowing 2 acres it makes me think it is lawn. If you are mowing with a brush hog then it must not be lawn? If you are mowing lawn a brush hog is not the best way to go, a rear discharge finish mower is. If you are mowing lawn the big tractor is heavy and may well damage the lawn.

I agree with sixdogs, the therapy we get while doing seat time is worth a bundle. Some guys need a therapist, we have tractors....lol.

The convenience of having a tractor to do things around my place is priceless. And buying or building more implements add to the therapy and convenience. I use it to make lots of chores simple and without much physical labor. I could do it without a tractor maybe but I can do it so much easier with a tractor.

As far as me trying to make money with mine, it doesn't happen. I do have a price in mind to quote to others but it mainly is to discourage neighbors from asking me to do tractor work for free. Now my friends, real friends, can get some free seat time but when you throw a price out there at neighbors that only come over when they need something, that's usually the end of the discussion.

Buy it for your convience if you want it. If you try to work it, treat it as a business but have the funds to cover all expenses if you are thinking friends will make good customers.
