Kubota L3901
I tried searching for this, but with no luck. My situation is when I have my backhoe attachment on my Kubota L3901 it hits the ground while trying to load it on a trailer. I've used two different types of equipment trailers. The first I borrowed which was a 20' equipment trailer with dovetail and fold down ramps. I would position the backhoe to one side and it would still hit the ground going up the ramps. The final solution was to have the BH to one side and put 2x12 boards underneath to make it up on the trailer without hitting the ground.

So I then decided to buy a 15k lb capacity partial tilting trailer thats 22' long (14' tilt and 8' stationary front section). It has an 11 degree angle for the tilt deck when fully down. My backhoe still hits the ground (now I feel dumb for buying a $5000 trailer) even with the BH turned fully to one side. I thought a tilting trailer would help in loading.

Any ideas on how to load this combination without resulting back to laying some 2X12s on the ground? I know I could load facing downhill (lessen the angle), but that is not always an option. I'm curious how others load this combination. Thanks for the help!

What part of the backhoe is hitting? Is it the rigid subframe? or is it the bucket? And have you tried backing on?

The lower cast part of the hoe, where the center point of the side to side swivel is. I have not tried backing on, just prefer to drive on, though not opposed to it. The actual subframe (that is bolted on) does not hit. Loads fine with a bush hog.

Mine does the same thing. I just use a few 2x6’s to lessen the approach angle. I will make a set with handles to put with the trailer.

Nothing to be embarrassed about. Trailers weren’t exactly designed for tractors with attached backhoes. Same goes for vehicles with low heights.

Is there a ditch that you can back the trailer's wheels into, and/or back trailer next to a bank and load tractor from on high.
Basically, anything that lessens the angle of the ramps.

P.S. There's also this method. No ramps required.

Just curious how high the trailer deck is?

Dad has a 3400+hoe..(basically older version of the same tractor). And don't recall any issues at all with a 12k equipment trailer with dovetail and 4' ramps.

I know we had issues with full-sized backhoes on my deckover gn. Had to use 6" blocks to lessen approach angle.

All your problems in life should be so easy to fix with a couple pieces of wood! Most of the construction low-boys I see hauling equipment carry a stash of cribbing for such uses. It's just a part of everyday life.

I too have a 3400 with (10') hoe.
When I load it on my 14K 20' beaver tail construction trailer, with 5' ramps, the hoe bucket does hit, but very slightly. If I swing the hoe to one side it will not hit.

As someone has said, try backing it on also. My tractor is smaller and I have to back mine on to keep backhoe from hitting.

Thanks for the advice! Swinging it to the side it still hits, so I値l worher back it on or carry some boards.
