Eradicating moles

Hello I’ve tried everything: the medieval trap w spikes, poison worms, etc. We have St Augustin’s & Bahia grasses w a Sandy loam soil. I installed an irrigation system in ranch yard so soil is perfect. It’s 2 acres fenced in on a 100 acre place near Columbus Tx. Plz let me know what’s worked...

I think a doctor can just remove moles. Have you talked to your local doctor.

It would be pretty funny to ask about mole removal and when he asks to see the moles...surprise!

Anyone have a solution to eradicating moles ??

Since owning and operating ranch for last 30 yrs, the moles have really taken-off around the 2-acre house area. I use cinch traps for gophers and have caught 100's of them and have them under control; the moles I do not. Looking for solutions that one person can implement to start knocking out...

I use this style of trap. You step them into the ground and then the jaws clamp shut on the mole when they trip the trigger. The trick is you have to learn where the runs are they use all the time. It’s kind of hard to describe how exactly but I’ve learned to identify active runs. A picture of the trap and one where I got a mole.

I agree with Dave above. I use an older style piercing model of trap and have been very successful with them. I set as many as 12 traps at a time if necessary.

The easiest way to find active runs is to get a bundle of marker flags from home depot or similar, then go through your property and use your heel to smash down a divot in the tunnel. Then mark the side of it with a flag. Repeat. Wait 24 hours and check the divots. Divots that pop up are active tunnels. Trap the spot where the divot was popped up.

Don't bother trying to trap mounds. Only tunnels. Mounds are where moles push dirt UP out of the tunnels to make room in the tunnels. Mole traps work on the principle of straddling the tunnels so if the mole comes from either direction through the trap, it will push soil UP into the trap trigger pan and catch the mole coming from the right or left of the trap.

If you place it on a mound, it will trigger from below, not from a mole coming from either side, and will miss the mole.

I have pocket gophers. I can testify - granular gopher poison does not work well. This has been an exceptionally bad year for pocket gophers. Many of my lawns are almost totally dug up.
