How to keep the water out of the transmission case . and Yes the tractor is out side

Make sure the top transmission cover is sealed around the edges. Water can also run in through the gear shift levers. Make sure the boots are in good shape with no holes or cracks.

I don't as a rule like to cover things with a tarp as it seems to encourage condensation but that is another option.
