Well i decided to attach a piece of nylon on the bottom cutting edge of the blade, we got about 6 inches of snow today and it worked really good it does not pick up the gravel and i also do not have to hear that awful sound of metal on gravel or concrete. the piece of nylon is 4 inches by 5 foot and is counter sunk into the bottom edge of the bucked with 8, 1/4" tapped holes. i also used stainless steel 3/4 inch long bolts. I used it on about a half mile of gravel road and did not notice a large amount of wear, just your typical scratches on the nylon.

You could also think about cutting a pipe down its length and fitting it over your bucket's cutting edge. Some do that with their truck plow cutting edges so that they do not dig into the gravel.
