I have a bunch of plastic buckets for winter sand/salt. Couple buckets fit nice in ballast box.

Leaves room to pile chains or tools on top. Or 4 buckets if I want more weight.

LoL...doesn't get much better than when a couple of NIA noobs get in a cat fight over a thread that "duct tape" was a viable solution to the OP's query...:laughing:

If I were really concerned about losing sand out of a door in a ballast box, I would go down to Lowe's or a similar store and get a roll of adhesive backed closed cell foam weather stripping. I would put that on the door so as to prevent leakage and close the door and as long as you don't open it too often, it should stay on just fine.
