Sometime it does, sometimes not. This is the only forum that does that to me, and I am on a lot of forums. If a thread is, say 12 pages long seems like most of the time it will load on page 3 or page 6 etc, anywhere but page 1.

I went to the "general settings" link on MY Home, and changed the setting to linear, oldest first. That's where it was in the beginning, but did it again. and this time the thread opened on page 10.

Is there a setting somewhere else I am missing or is the forum off kilter?

This is really annoying.

The forum is set to go to the first unread post or (if it is an old thread, the first post in the last 3 (I dont know the real number) months).
It did the same thing pre-upgrade and after the upgrade it was changed so that clicking on the title took you to the first post and clicking the "first unread post" button took you to the first unread post. However, many people were used to just clicking on the title, so it was changed back to function that way. As I understand it, this is a forum wide setting and cant be set on a per-user basis.

I almost wonder if there isnt a way to have a "go to post 1 in the thread" button from the list of threads...

I wonder why I'm being shuttled ahead to pages that I have not read before I get a chance to read intervening pages. Example maybe the last page I read was page 3 then a day later there is 12 pages and I am dumped in on page 10 when I return to catch up. annoying to say the least.

Click on page 1 instead of the thread title when it's a multi-page thread.

Yea that is a user solution, but not a good one. It's not a critical matter, but annoying.

This is the way the forum has been for about 12 years, though. Most users like it this way.

The problem, as I see it, is a thread might be 6 pages long, and I have never read it at all. So when I click on it, it should start at page 1. EVERY other forum I go to does it this way. This is a great site for info, but in that sense it's a salmon swimming upstream.

Again, in that case, click on page number 1. That's what I do when I haven't read a thread yet and it's multiple pages.
