Tractor
1978 Kubota
I just purchased a 1978 Kubota tractor. I know nothing about tractors. It won't turn over, so I assume the battery is bad(but the lights work?) I can see the battery in the front grill, but can't seem to get at it. It looks like the front grill just pulls down, but it won't budge. Before I force it open, does anybody know exactly what the trick is to get at the battery? And if somebody thinks it could be some other problem I'm taking advice.

You are going to have to come up with the tractor model. Pictures help as well.

It's a L1700. I'll try and get a picture on.

If the lights work you should get at least a feeble click from the starter even if the battery is pretty bad. So i would suggest its more likely bad connections than a bad battery. Also it might not turn over unless you have your foot on the clutch.

PS. You can get a free parts manual here. they are very handy to help see how everything fits together. Theres one for a L1700E in the 'Parts Manuals' folder, but read everything on the home page first .
