How to disable #40 Kicker

I have a 328 baler with a #40 kicker however I have no kicker wagons yet. Wondering if anyone can tell me the proper way disable the kicker (without removing it) so I can bale hay the old fashioned way.

Is it as simple as locking the kicker? Will it cause any harm to the hydraulic pump?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have the manual?

Is there a lock, or are you thinking of tying it down some way (locking the kicker)?

It must get a signal some way, that the bale is ready to "kick". Disconnect that signal device so it doesn't know that the bale is ready. Seems then there would be no kick to the kicker.

Thanks for the response. I just ordered the manual this morning. It did not come with one since I bought it used.

I baled about 200 bales with it yesterday and left the kicker in the locked position. I also turned the catch that trips the ejector out of the way so the bales would not hit it. This did work.

I guess I'm just wondering if this was the right way to do it. In any case, I should know in a week or so when the manual arrives. Not likely I will have another opportunity to hay before then anyway.

You can also raise and lock the entire thrower up at about a 45 degree angle so the bales come out underneath it.

Or we could swap our 40 kicker which won't work for your's which does ..... then we would both be happy!!!
