How to crank a 5030?

   / How to crank a 5030? #11
The thermostart on my 5030 is threaded into the front end of the intake manifold near the fan. When voltage is sent to it the wire coil gets red hot igniting the gravity fed fuel supplied by a small fuel line from tank. As the coil gets hot it opens a heat activated valve allowing the fuel to drip in.
I’ve had to replace one or two over the years in the 4 tractors I have that utilize a thermostart, the coil burns out.

To crank a New Holland 5030, here's what you do: first, turn the key to the crank position to start the engine. If there's no separate glowplug switch labeled, it might be automatic or part of the start sequence. Check the manual or look for any unmarked switches that could be for the glowplugs. If unsure, you might need to experiment gently with the switches while trying to start.
