How To Control Queen Anne\'s Lace

I have Queen Anne's Lace in one of my fields on my farm. This is a pesky weed that I would like to kill out. Does anyone on the TBN board know the best way to kill this pesky weed out. Today, I mowed this field with a rotary cutter as close to the ground that I could get it. Parts of this field was a mess with Queen Anne's Lace. Believe it or not in some places it had grown to 10 feet tall, or taller. I checked this weed out on the internet with some so call experts, and they said the weed wouldn't grow to be over 4 or 5 feet tall. Well! I got news for them. This pesty weed will grow over 10 foot tall in Kentucky. I guess Queen Anne's Lace likes the type of soil in Kentucky.

Also, one other thing that I would like to know, will Queen Anne's Lace hurt, or kill livestock, if they eat it?

The two things that I hate the most growing on my farm is Queen Anne's Lace, and thistles. I know what to use to kill out thistles, but I don't know what is the best method to kill out Queen Anne's Lace.

If anyone knows how to kill out Queen Anne's Lace, please reply to this post.

The water will never clear up, until you get the hogs out of the pond. (You got to find what the trouble is, and eliminate it).

Re: How To Control Queen Anne\'s Lace

You sure it's queen ann's lace at 10'? May be something close looking to it like poison hemlock. A few years ago I had the bright idea to plant wild flowers around the outside edge of our garden(remember, wildflowers are really just weeds that you let live). The only thing that came back the second year was queen ann's lace. It is hard to get rid of without killing the grass around it. May be best to wipe the whold field and start over with what you want. I just mow it down with the grass and keep it short, but that is in a lawn, not a field. Good luck.

Thank you for the websites on Queen Anne's Lace and Poison Hemlock that you stated in your post on this subject. I checked out those websites about Queen Anne's Lace and Poison Hemlock. You are right, I do have Poison Hemlock on my farm, instead of Queen Anne's Lace. Both of these pesky weeds look alike in certain ways. One thing that is different with Poison Hemlock is that it grows a lot taller than Queen Anne's Lace. Some of this Poison Hemlock that is on my farm, that I thought was Queen Anne's Lace has grown over 10 foot tall. Yesterday, I used a rotary cutter to cut it as short as I could to the ground.

May I ask the same question that I asked in my first post, when I first thought that I had Queen Anne's Lace on my farm. What is the best way to kill out this pesky weed called Poison Hemlock? Will 2-4-D, or Roundup sprayed on this pesky weed kill it out, or there other ways to kill this pesky weed out? Also, if certain kinds of sprays will kill this weed out, what is the best time of the year to apply the spray to kill this weed out?

That herbicide stuff,,is so weak,,because of safety laws and such,,,,could try it now before seeds,,,and use it triple or more dose,,,,But that stuff kills everthing ,,right???,,,,,and if you got a wide area?????,,,roots,,are the thing,,even if you plowed etc,,,it would probably come back,,,,,,thought,,,maybe its soil sensitive,,meaning it either hates or loves acid????Most weeds hate lime,,,maybe????? thingy

Re: How To Control Queen Anne\'s Lace

Here are the chemicals registered to kill poison hemlock:
Aquamaster, Banvel,Basis,Cimarron,Credit Systemic, Escort, Fire Power, Glyphosate (Roundup), Grazon P+D, Opti-Amine, Oust Extra, Rattler, Rhomene, Starlene+Sword, Telar, Touchdown.

If you don't mind killing what ever is around it I would use roundup. It is by far the cheapest and will do the trick. 2,4-D will not work. Grazon P+D is a good chemical, but is a restriced use product meaning you need a license to buy it. Banvel is good too, but a 2.5 gallon jug is going to run you $200.
