So a sub frame for a backhoe has two functions.
1 to support the backhoe
2 to provide additional strength to the center section of the tractor
Would it be beneficial to add a compression member between the fel and rops (subframe) while using a 3pt backhoe?

I do not know what you envision, but additional structural members in compression or tension between the ROPS support and the FEL subframe may make your 3-point hoe attachment stronger.

Note that a backhoe subframe instead of 3-point mount also protects the toplink connection on your tractor from getting pulled out.
