Traction How often do you guys use the 4WD over 2WD hi and low range

With my JD3520 with AG tyres, I use 2WD all the time to avoid stress on the transmission and tearing out the grass, except briefly on gravel or mud and when using the loader for digging and moving dirt.
I drive around and mow in B3 most of the time, A1 in tight spots or loader work, C4 on the road.
So far 4WD has always been able to get me out of the mess I drove into in 2WD.

Tractors are different from off-road vehicles but,... The old saying was that 4WD will let you get stuck in places where folks with 2WD would never go.

Personally, I have found the locking differential to be of great value in restoring mobility in most cases and 4WD to be of most value in mud or when you need traction with a full loader.

I thought I'd give two wheel drive a go yesterday, tried the brakes out and noticed a big difference. Locked up the two rear wheels. Braking under 4WD was a lot more stable. Noticed that using the slasher in 2WD was no where as good as 4wd. So I think more me I'll leave it in 4WD unless on the road. We get pretty good drainage here so I'm hopeful I don't need to try the diff lock out.

You have no front brakes . In 4wd , your front wheels work with the rears via the drivetrain .Basically 2 more anchors .

Yes thats correct, and I found that braking in 4WD much more stable.
