Reminds me of the fellow bragging one day about how much land he had, said it took him two days in his pick-up to ride the whole spread. Whereupon the other guy responded: "Yep,I once had a car like that"!

Another observed that he raised cattle on 5000 acres in Texas and asked the man he was talking to how much land he had. I only have two acres, the man said - in downtown Manhattan. Wonder who had more real estate value? Not that I would want to live in NYC for sure.:laughing:

We live on 76 acres, not dumb enough to figure we own it. Just miss a couple of property tax payments and see how long that deed stays in your name.

We only have 20 acres but that is quite enough working long days elsewhere. The only neighbor that I can see owns the preserved woodlot on one side of us otherwise it is all fields and woods. Our house is 600 feet off of the paved dead end road and we have maybe six families in beyond us. Our two stallions can beller all night long for the mares but anyone living say a half a mile or so away won't complain since the cows get to calling too and they far out number the people. You let one person know if you have a problem and the people will come out of the woodwork to see if they can help out. All that and we even have DSL. Size is not everything.

Me and the wife own 5 acres, not much compared to family. Father owns 6 sections (640 acres) and the father-in-law owns 30 sections.

Probably so, but I'm a country boy and there is nothing prettier or more relaxing than visiting friends or just enjoying the country in rural America. Besides I could never afford the penthouse.

I only have a little over 2 acres..Looking for much more though.

The local farmer bought everything around me to prevent development..So I have one neighbor and hundreds of acres of woods and pasture around me...Not bad after all.

I'm in the "commuter" category, I guess. We live in town in a 100 year old log house on the river, where it's close to work during the week. I can walk out my back door, hop into the boat, and buzz out to the lake for a day of fishing, water sports, or just bobbing around.

Our other property is my wife's family homestead. A lovely 120 acre farmstead on the Canadian border. It's a mix of tillable farmland, poplar forest, tamarack and cedar swamp, a couple nice pastures, and it all rolls up to the top of a good sized gravel ridge, capped off with a beautiful grove of Norway pines. Another bonus: the closest paved road is at least ten miles away. :thumbsup:
