I was wondering (after all the warnings we read in manuals) how much extra oil is too much that it would cause problems? Is too much worse than too little???? just kind of curious........Thanks.

There should always be room for the oil to expand. To much oil in an engine will cause hydraulic lock.

I know this for a fact on a small engine. I had a Honda air compressor, and I went to start it one day, and it just locked up. My first thought was to check the crank case, and sure enough as I removed the oil check plug, gas and oil came out. I am guessing the needle seat in the carb was leaking, and all the gas leaked down into the crankcase.

If to low on oil, you might not be able to move the tractor, or raise the loader.

It's too much oil if it causes a problem, otherwise, it's just right.
