Gee, I was thinking a pizza a six pack and cost of materials and gas money...maybe you have to be friends with the welder for that deal. 
how much if ask a welder come to your home and weld a 2" length small metal plate?

Well, my two sense; if I knew for a fact I could take my 240V stick and plug it in at your place; $65 per hour and that would be my door to my door; or free if a friend. If you where to bring me the part; it would be $65. Now; that's flap disc'ing; weld; wire wheel; not primed or painted or even prettied up. If I where you, u would get a cheap 120/240v amazon multi-process machine, and learn to stick weld.

I understand the 8-10 beers; but I don't think it takes 12-15 pizzas foe that job.

So, I'm could Not make a living welding; but; we had to learn to stick weld in high-school ag class. That very limited knowledge has saved me $1,000s over the years. Seat bracket; costs like $250; but a quick ugly bead, and good. Made a homemade single bottom plow, total cost; maybe $0.30; 100% scrap metal; got a 50 pound box of 3/16 6013 rods for $4 at an estate sale. Grill leg, ect, ect; its a Great skill to learn, honestly, $200 and you can have a set up that will work, and practice till you can do it.

Around here the $150 estimate would be pretty close if they came to your house or farm. If you took it to the shop, $25-30.
I have done at least 6 welding jobs for neighbors this year, made a total of $0. guessing used $40+ in welding wire and gas... Oh well, that is what neighbors are there for, to help each other out.
