Hi Everybody,

We are pleased to announce a brand new website, developed by TBN: TractorPriceGuide.com. This website will serve as a completely free tractor & equipment price database, which we hope will help tractor buyers and owners determine the real world market value of the tractors they buy and own.

TractorPriceGuide.com will feature prices gathered from a variety of sources, including auction results, dealer quotes, advertised prices and prices people actually paid for their tractors.

In order to make the guide as complete and accurate as possible, we are asking for tractor owners to submit the price they paid for their tractor to the database.

This is a good way to P___off all the dealers that are trying to make a buck in these tough times. Good grief do a little home work if you are going to spend 20 grand on a tractor, shop around and look at the service and value provided. With this site you can just go and beat the dealer over the head with some price (real or fictitious) that was posted by some yahoo trying to look like he got a deal.

Muhammad, I think you need to add a year field for the tractor.

Price information would not be of much value if you don't know how old the machine is that was purchased.

btw, I think creation of this database is a great idea and valuable resource for future buyers.

I think this is a good idea,too. As for it not being good for dealers I don't agree with that at all. Dealers sure know what tractors are selling for, why should he have all of that information? Fair negotiation involves both sides having equal and adequate access to all the information available. I don't thinkl too many people are going to spend a lot of time posting bogus prices and even if they do, dealers have a right to refute anything and refuse any deal. Having said all that though, I think this site will be more valuable to used tractor buyers where apples to apples comparisons are harder to do.

A couple of suggestions Muhammad,

- Hydrostatic drive or gear makes a big difference to value/cost; need to put that in (much like a standard shift car or automatic)

- General geographic location helps (I can't get the same prices here in Eastern Canada as there is a fair amount of freight to consider on any purchase)

- US or Canadian dollars. There's a fair amount of both here, I know how to convert as I look at things but I need to know what the listing was made in.

I think it would be very helpful, both for purchasers, owners, and dealers. For me, it would allow me to consider what comparable models are selling for used should I get the inclination to upgrade at some point.

Any good dealer will well anticipate the use of the net to gather prices. They are free to say "no" to an offer that is too low. It is just progress.

I do agree that turkeys who put up fake info can cause trouble though.
