That would be "Crazy ***** Bloke" if you aren't aware of that acronym... Not the first time I've ever seen 'em pull some stunt like this? Been around many Coalition airframes and the Brit Jaguar pilots were absolutely nuts in some of the things they would do with those old airframes. I've seen 'em blow tents down with turbine exhaust, clip antenna arrays on the tops of buildings, just crazy stuff... Since the Jag's weren't "front line" airframes, I think their crews had something to prove?? :rolleyes:

It seems to me that flameout is a real possibility when you get too close to a large airplane. Maybe the cameraman had a Bic lighter so he could reach out and give 'em a light.:D

I don't know if you can get a compressor stall from turbulence, they are moving a lot of air and it wouldn't matter if it was disturbed before it went in the engine as it is all going the same direction once it gets in the intake. On the other hand one of the 'high tech' features of the F-4 was adjustable intake ramps as at mach1+ speeds you could too much ram air and it could stall the compressor. The ramps would move out and cut down the flow of air into the intakes.

When I was in I was told a story by one of the guys who had a high-power license as to why he would never go into the high-power building (a building use to run planes engines on the ground up to after-burner). Apparently they had some reports of engine issues that couldn't be duplicated on the low-power ramps so they set it up in the high-power building (chocks, chains, intake screens, everything you think you need and more). He was the guy in the cockpit and they ran the troubled engine up until it just broke A/B. Right then the compressor stalled and essentially backfired like a bomb going off. Blew off the intake screen and then sucked it back in, all kinds of stuff and flames etc coming out of the engine and engine bay. Shook him up so bad he let his license go and just wouldn't go back. Whether it is a fairly tale or a sea story I don't know ;)
