How much did you pay for a 5 gallon bucket of Super UDT last time you bought it? My 50 hour service will be due in the next week or so and I just got "stuck" for $69.48 for 5 gallons. Just curious as to whether that was the norm. (trying to stay with "kubota" products during the first hundred or 200 hours (Warranty))

Just curious.

Regards,
Dave

I don't think that "stuck" is the proper term to use. You were free to walk out and buy any other product that you care to. No one put a gun to your head and say "buy it or I will kill you!". I bothers me greatly when a consumer is free to make a choice and then dams the dealer that sold him the product. He is in business to make a profit and if he is going to be there in the future, you better hope that he makes a profit. You go to work and expect to get paid and so do his employees.
Getting back to your original question, the price that you paid is a fair price and well within the normal price that all Kubota dealers sell for....

I think that might have been a little harsh, junkman.

Back to your question, from what I have priced anywhere from 60.00-75.00 is what I have seen it from.

Thanks for the info. When I say "Stuck" I mean it in relation to what the fluid probably costs them. They made a nice profit off of me when I bought a 23k tractor and equipment from them, and I guess it's probably naive of me to think that maybe they'd give me a deal on fluids being a loyal customer an all.

Have a good one,
Dave

OK....... I was a bit harsh, but I get tired of hearing people complain about costs of items today without thinking about what goes into selling a product. A majority of people think that the retailers are getting rich on every sale. The truth be told, the independant business man (or woman.... to be P.C.) doesn't make a lot of profit after paying all the expense of runing the business. If the tractor dealer was like a Walmart, with 2500 stores, each making a $1000 a day profit, I could understand this thinking, but he isn't.
My UPS driver is making over a $1000 per week driving a truck. He gets $25 per hour and all the overtime that he wants...... On Monday, because it was a holiday, his hourly rate went to $62.50....... 8 hours regular pay, plus since he worked he got time and a half..... 1.5 x 25.00 = $37.50 plus the $25.00 = $62.50...... as he put it..... not bad for a guy that just graduated high school..... and he also complains about the cost of products...

That's market price for Super UDT. I just paid $ 12.00 for a gallon to top off my unit after a filer change (50 hours is replace, then you go to 300 hours before you replace again, with a pair of filter changes in between).

THe Hydro unit on the Kubotas costs about $ 3,000.00 to replace if you muck it up with the wrong fluid. If you keep Super UDT in the box all the time, my dealer (Byrd Tractor) says the Hydro will always be covered if it's tied to a fluid failure at any time. That's good enough for me to not run the Home Depot stuff......

Yup, that was my thinking too. (easier to stay with their fluids why the warranty is in place). I think the thing that irks me about the dealer pricing is that on every vehicle I've ever bought they've given me a 10% off list at the parts counter. (My stupidity for not asking before I bought here).

Ford, Yamaha, Chevy, GMC.

Have a good one,
Dave

I am also having my 50 hour service coming up in the next couple of weeks. I am currently at 43 hours. I at first thought that 65.00 every 50 hours for transmission fluid was stupid. I didn't realize until I looked in the manual that the transmission oil is changed at 50 hours and then not until 300 hours. Its worth it to me to pay 65.00 and have no worries as far as the warranty goes.
