Good idea to either tie the doors closed good or trailer your cab'd tractor backwards in case the door pop open at speed... :)

I'm not in super dusty conditions, heat or cold for extended periods, but am around trees quite a bit. I do like being outside regardless of the weather though. Having the roof and windshield on the RTV is about the limit for me being closed up on my equipment. There are many variables for other people though, like, region, weather, hours on equipment, noise, fatigue, dust etc......which I totally understand. I'm just saying that on a beautiful day, nothing beats being out in the weather!

I have many regrets from buying a cabbed tractor.

This year, I don't have hardly any suntan. When i operated open station that was never an issue. If I was single and dating, that would suck. Fortunately I am old and married happily. And, I have lost weight since buying a cabbed tractor. I used to get some extra protein as I would ingest at least some of the bugs swarming my open station tractor while brush hogging. Now, I don't get any, and I think I've dropped a pound or two. And, my skin is drying out. I used to regularly apply lotion after battling the stinging insects when using my open station, but I can't remember now when I used any of that. Finally, I think it is negatively affecting my hearing. Some say a cab is quieter, but I like to blast the CD player with my favorite tunes while brush hogging the morning away. So, of course, many regrets!

Oh, I have an air ride suspension seat. Where do I reply to the post if I also regret that? All in fun of course ...

Definately like a cab. I don't miss the wind burn one bit. I also like feeling my feet and hands in winter, when feeding and shifting stock.

Wow...pretty much on average you guys are happy with the cab. Now I have a little buyer's remorse on my open station. Particularly since I'm in the Adirondacks and the bugs have been wicked this year. You can be sure that if I trade up, a cab will be in the mix. I'm in the woods a lot too, but I think the safety of the cab would trump getting inadvertently 'speared' by an unseen branch, or stung by hitting a bee/wasp/hornet nest.

There are times I wish I had an open station tractor, but they are few. If I bought another new one today, it would have a cab.

I have had a cabbed tractor for about seven years now. I have only two issues with it. One is that the center of gravity is higher. I have some slopes, so I loaded and weighted the rear wheels and set both on the widest position. That has been adequate up to about 20-25 degrees of slope. The second, so far unrealized, is when significant repair requires removing the cab for access. It does make me nervous in the wooded areas, but so far I haven't thwacked the cab. I have limbed the trees that I mow around up to 12 feet with a pole saw. They look better that way anyhow.

....................................Only prob is reflections in the flat windshield. Those are murder in some situations.
Jim

I have noticed this at times, depending on the light. Usually it isn't objectionable. The worst time I have with my reflection in the gas is after sunset when the light given off by the backup camera bounces off a light colored shirt. If I use the tractor at night I wear a dark shirt or turn the backup camera off.

Best decision I made.... of course going to look at the open cab model of the 2528 that I had my eyes on during a miserable sleet/ snow Sunday afternoon and seeing the open cab parked next to the cab model.... my wife who knows me all too well says " you know , you are getting the cab model" ... love her... she's given me permission to pull the trigger on the purchase years ago... now with our own place and firewood processing can get labor intensive along with filling in thep property for the future barn workshop , it's been a real asset to have.👍 IMG_5219.JPG Qa forks with load of lengthy cedar logs.

I feel a lot better without all that reflective and dirty glass around me. Unless you have a slave that can clean them 3x a week+. Now, if I was working in a cement factory or a lithium mine [Silver peak Nevada] or a magnesium plant [Gabbs Nevada] or a rendering plant for dead cows, I would go with the cab and a giant filter. BUt being in the California mountains at 3500', its fairly mild weather. Well, except this past year when we got 82" of rain. From Wisconsin, so I know that's a different program, but I have to wonder about visibility in the snow, and frost. My excavator has a cab, but you can open almost all of it up. A/C would be nice here, but I never saw a backhoe with an operational A/C after about 6,000 hours.
