I've tried cooking several things from Binging with Babish, and other sources. Never even heard of Bierocks, (that's probably spelled wrong, spiced beef pies in yeast rolls), wife was a fan, me, whatever. I was always a fan of Baklava, my great uncles wife used to make it, and I've taken to making it for holidays. Baria tacos, big hit. But I'm good to cook a 'good' meal maybe once every couple weeks. The rest is as I tell the kids, just something to make a turd.

You see 500 spices in a grocery store, but most of us use, black pepper, chili powder, salt, cumin... didn't even know what the heck fennel seeds were.

I also like more spice and flavor, so I have tried a fair number of Mexican, Asian, and have a couple middle eastern dishes I want to try.

We still fall back on Brats and Tots, spaghetti, "white folks tacos", ect most nights

Also, we went on like a 5 day kick, that started being joke on about day 2, of "pig and taters"; brats and tots, pork chops and mashed potatoes, pulled pork sandwiches and French fries, ect

Smoked my first pork butt Sunday. Pretty darn tasty.
I used a Webber Kettle with a FLameTech Smoke and Sizzle that lets you put the fire on one side, and indirect cook on the other side. Worked great!

If it ain't baked chicken, baked spuds and boiled carrots - I'm not eating.
My one daughter when she was with us, got the alpha-gal tick bite which meant she could only eat fowl. She had a fish allergy too.

I cooked chicken so many ways I swear it ended up in everything in everyway possible.

Now-a-days, it might make it to the grill a few times a week. LOL.

..........

I am a year round grill/smoker person. All weather too. I find it easier than cooking and cleaning up in the house. Tastier too.

I do the majority of the cooking in the house.

It started with me getting home an hour and a half earlier than my wife from work.

So it made more sense for me to get dinner ready for the family and eat between 6 and 7pm versus 9pm if she fid the cooking.

I take Thanksgiving week off from work. So I always cooked the holiday meal for around 20 people each year as well.

I enjoy it.

I think time and partnership influenced me too on the cooking.

I cook everything from Whole hog SC barbeque to authentic Mexican to authentic Japanese Ramen. We are coming up on the time of year I live for with garden turnips, collards, cabbage and sweet potatoes. I'm also a premo gravy and my grandma's homemade biscuit maker. Nothing I can't cook and nothing I won't try. I've even made my own tuna and salmon sushi rolls several times. Oh and the best meat loaf on earth. Got the recipe from one of those church lady cook books that my momma had.

I cook a lot. Since retirement, even more. There is always something sourdough in the making, breads, desserts, breakfast items.
