How many hours is too many hours (or miles)

I was actually thinking about posting this same question, but about the Kubota RTV Diesel. No sense in having 2 threads, so here goes: Anyone know if 3,000 hours are borderline high for these? I see a few out there at just over 3,000 hours and the price seems good for the way it looks in pictures, but I don't want to get into a money pit. Everything I find is quite a drive (2+ hours each way) so I don't want to waste that time and fuel if I don't have to.

I have seen 5000 hour tractors that were well kept, run fine and look pretty good. I have also seen 100-200 hour tractors that were in real bad shape. All beat to heck . A lot depends on the operator, if he takes care of it, and so on.

Where are you located? What’s your property like (hilly or flat). We own a x900 and there are some serious positives and negatives in my estimation. As for hours we bought ours as a fleet return for around 50% off which we thought was a deal and I think it had 1200 hours on it. They are beasts. Very very sturdy.

That many hours is a crap shoot of dependability for many machines. If your not bothered by an occasional break down, then go for it.

I'm located in East central WI. Our land is one big hill. The one I'm most interested in is a 2009 RTV1140 CPX with 3100 hours for $5500. It looks like it's primary job was to haul people around as the seat is patched, but the bed looks untouched. I'm mechanically inclined so break downs don't bother me much. It wouldn't be worked hard very often. Mostly for going around my land and hauling tools around to maintain the property. I like the fold away seats so I can take people with or have the bigger bed, depending on the task.

Is it a $15K machine new? If so, sounds like a good price.
