Moving my MX5800 w/ FEL & cutter. How many chains & binders do I need on the tractor - 4? What about the FEL & bush hog?

If I'm not mistaken, you need one for each corner of the machine and and for the loader attachment and one for the attachment on the back.

Legally, if the load is under 10,000 lb you only need 1 front / 1 back / 1 FEL / 1 BH.
For peace of mind I use 4 chains for tractor, 1 for FEL and 1 for any 3 pt. implement.
I use 5/16th Gr 70 chain.

When the dealer delivered my M6040. One chain on each corner - - one chain across the bucket on the FEL - - one chain across the rear blade on the 3-point. Six chains.

Here is my understanding:

Tractor > #10K, chain on all four corners
Tractor < #10K, 3 chains

Combined weight capacity of the chains must equal 50% of the weight of the tractor

Thanks everyone. I have 1 (5/16" G70) on each corner but used HD ratchet straps on the FEL & cutter. Is this legal or do I need chains & binders on the loader & bush hog?

You'll be fine as long as the straps are sufficient. I use 4 chains (5/16", G70) for the corners. Straps (3,3333 pound working load limit) for the FEL and any other implements on the trailer.

I'm amazed at some of the people I've seen securing loads with light weight ratchet straps. Just make sure your straps meet the load they're expected to secure.

This is correct if doing indirect tie down as in the chain or strap hooks on one side of the trailer, goes over or through something and then hooks on to the other side of the trailer. For direct tie downs as in the chain goes from the trailer to the tractor and attaches to it directly the WLL of the chain is cut in half for the purposes of the securement calculation amount and thus your chains need to add up to 100% of the weight of the tractor.
