It's so hot in Texas that squirrels are using birdbaths as swimming pools.:p
It's so dry that wild turkeys are drinking out of birdbaths and armadillos are diggin' in.

How hot is it in your area? Got pictures?:)

Jim we had a nice cool rain here yesterday. It was one on those drizzles that seemed to last all day long.

Normally I wouldn't do that but you Texan's rub it in when we're adam's apple deep here in snow.

I have to say this really quietly so nobody else in TX will hear and come beat me up. I got 1/2" of rain last night, too.:D

In Houston we've had a high pressure sitting on us for a couple of weeks causing heat .... but since it's hurricane season ... I'll take the heat over the possibility of the alternative.....luckily it's been a very quiet season - they aren't even forming in the atlantic .... I like it.

Careful - they will hear you!

Mike "THEY" heard you, something is forming in the Gulf right now!

Jim, I am seeing little round balls in the field in the middle of the day. I know you know what that means. Yes, even the doo doo bugs are vacating their balls of manure because the ground is too hot to roll them on. I would take a picture but I think you get the picture.

I haven't seen dung beetles in years, but I wish I had some. Every time I go into the yard, I have to be careful not to step in raccoon scat.:p They and the turkeys are poopin' all over the place.

Last night I looked out and there was a doe drinking all the water out of the birdbath. That's a first for me. I've seen the turkeys and squirrels do that, but this was the first deer. It was just getting too dark to get a picture, or I would have added that to the collection.

I don't envy you working on your carport way up on a ladder. That's got to be tough. Do you generally have any breeze? I keep offering to put the hammock up outside for Kathy, but she just gives me "that look" that tells me to forget it.;)

Jim, we do have a slight breeze on the hill but it is a hot breeze, like opening up an oven door. This will be the third week that it gets over 100 almost every day. Even an hour after sunset it is still 95 degrees. I figure I'm retired, no deadlines, no stress, so I'm not working on the ladder and holding the hot metal this week. The more I delay the cooler it will get. :D I dug my spring pond out as much as I could with my BH and it is filling up an inch a day. I put my solar pump in it to irrigate the garden (1 gpm) and I am trying to keep the tomatoes and blueberries alive. The rest of the ponds are drying up to record lows. This is a good time for tractor work in the ponds.
