I just missed buying a great M4900 in my area just now, but there's another one in the area that has a cab for a similar price, just 2k hrs vs 1k hrs. I really don't want a cab because I'll be doing a lot of work around trees. How hard is it to convert a cab setup to a rops?

It would be cost prohibitive to do what you think you want to do. Plenty difficult as well. Time you pulled the cab and bought everything you would need for the controls, steering, platform and seat I bet you'd have $10K out of pocket. If you aren't a complete savage and can keep the doors and windows closed you probably wouldn't do as much damage as you think.
