With the rollover question being hot on everybody's mind recently I went out to my tractor (YM2310) this morning and took my rear wheels off. I removed the center section and did some thinking. I set them up to give me about 10 inches more width in the rear than there was originally. I then drove the tractor around my property (5.5 acres and hilly) a little and decided to go all the way. I took them back off and set them up now to be 5 foot 2 inches from outside of one to the outside of the other. This is the max I can achive with these wheels. My question is: Am I going to eat up the wheel bearings way to fast now. I can't imagine that I would go through them very fast as these tractors move so **** slow. I understand that I am putting alot more "pressure" or "strain" on them, but how much do you think I am taking off the life of them? Are they expensive, or hard to replace? What are you thoughts on spacing the wheels all the way out. I feel much safer with the wider stance of the tractor now. BTW I am also saving for a ROPS which I feel everybody should have without question.

Adam ,I have a 3110D . I set my rear wheels as wide as they would go about 2 yra ago. I haven't had any problems. I also turned my fronts around to give the front a wider stance.

From all I have read on it, you won't hurt anything making the rears wider. But don't do it to the front, as it will hurt the bearing, and will not make it one bit safer. As the front is on a pivot, so it don't help, only the front.

I have mine on the second widest setting, and what a difference on stability ! I wouldn't worry about hurting anything. They are made to be set at different widths. I see no problems with them set out...... unless you are trying to squeek into a tight spot...... such as between two trees.

I am assuming you have adjustable rims....if so you should be fine. Because of the spread you will notice any play in the axle bearing much more quickly, and it is always a good idea to check the wheels for play in the bearing every once in a while.

Adam if I had adjustable rims on my 2210 they would be as wide as i could get them.

That is great news. I have not heard many talk about this so I thought I might be doing something that was not good for sure. Thanks for all the feedback. I feel alot better about it. And you are right the stability is MUCH better.
