How far can LEO go?

Just remember that for each story of bad police there are thousands upon thousands of untold good stories.

I second that. Most of my interactions have been very professional, and only one was not. And if that Patrolman had gotten more out of hand, a Sheriff's deputy pulling up would have been a welcome sight.

Good LEOs should not have to explain, nor feel bad about a bad LEO. Many still do, but I wish they could be spared that feeling. They need to be cheered by their own good behavior and their own professionalism, and realize we don't believe for a minute that they are all the same.

My son (then 22) was coming out of a local WalMart one day when two officers at the door grabbed a shoplifter as he was leaving, then backed him up against the glass and frisked him, then led him back into the store. My son had spotted a big knife in the shoplifter's back pocket, while he was up against the glass, that the cops missed. As they walked the guy by, my son told them about the knife in the back pocket- he got a stern "mind your own F'ing business" from one of the cops, except the full verbalization, and this was in front of my 3 yr old grandson as well.... Nice.
Anyway the other cop leaned back, looked and sure enough pulled this big knife out of the guys pocket!
Later my son was still in the store and the two cops approached him, one was the ranking officer and made the other cop apologize to my son. It was obvious the "bad" cop did not want to do it and was very insincere in his "apology"..
I just hope the "bad" cop finds another line of work...

Of course that's true. It's just that when they do go bad it's such an unexpected betrayal of trust that it really stands out. Maybe unfair but true.
