How far away is your property?

I'd like to hear from those that have remote property that brought you to this board. How far away is it and how often do you get there? I'll start. I live in suburbia but have 100 acres in the country 37 miles away. Takes me about 42 minutes to get there, and I'm there just about every weekend, at least for the day. Heading there right after work today...

1 acre and house on the outskirts of town. 20 acres 9 miles from us. Get there a couple times a year to mow trails and do upkeep along highway. Hope to build a home there some day.

I live on 15 acres about 15 miles from New Orleans and have 160 acres inside the Ozark National Forest that I occasionally hunt on. I guess I will wind up putting the 160 acres for sale some day to someone who wants to live out in the wilderness with no chance of ever getting any neighbors.

We have 7 acres in upstate SC- 620 miles away We get up there a couple times a year, but plan on building and moving within 2 years or so. One of my requisites when we shopped for land is that it be big enough that we would HAVE to have a tractor! I like restoring old tractors, but I'll probably have one more modern one for chores. Next trip- April!

I live on 1.5 acres that is 4 miles outside of town.....and have another 34 acres for my Christmas tree farm that is another 9 miles away. During the Spring through Fall I am out there almost every weekend....and it never seems like work.

Some days when my day job is going especially poorly, I'll drive out there in my truck and eat my lunch in the woods sitting next to the creek. Seems to clear the mind and allows me to let go of my issues and bad attitude.

Live on 2 acres have 10 acres 120 miles away. Probably visit an average of 2.5 times a month

1/2 acre on a bay, 160 mile drive. I am there right now. Plan to live here next year.

10 acres NE edge of the "Valley of the Sun" (Phoenix, AZ) 95 acres 1750 miles away in southern Kentucky. Get there 2-3 times a year, hopefully permanent in one year.

Have a small suburban lot and 87 acres 72 miles from home. It takes me about 1 hour 20 minutes to get to the farm. Two years ago I retired and since then I'm at the farm 180 to 190 days per year.

I'm already there. Been here on 5 acres for 5 years in the middle of nowhere. My zip code is E-I-E-I-O. 25 miles to town in one direction and 38 miles to town in the other direction. I have 7.5 acres 18 miles away. GLAD TO BE HERE!!

We own most of a section in La Paz county near Brenda, AZ with my uncle. That's about 2500 miles from our home. We've only seen pictures. It does have a couple wells a single wide and a dirt air strip.

My uncle uncle found it a few years back was very excited about it. He didn't have the money, but the price was right, so we put up the money to buy it. He had great plans to work it and building a straw bale house on it, but his health is failing, so not much has been done with it. It has turned out to be a good investment as the land value went up about 1000% during the real estate boom, though the market's pretty much dried up lately for some reason.

I had 120 acres 125 miles away, it took me 2 1/4 hours one way, almost every weekend for 12 years. Now we're on site and love it. (But our total weekly driving millage has not decreased.)

Mines right outside the back door. 36 acres about 6 miles from town. We've had the property for about 3 years now and finally finished our house. Its awful nice to move to your place but it does take away from it some too. Its no longer a place to work on and improve, its home.. Kinda like busting your azz for your neighbor/freind while your own projects get put on the back burner. I've always wondered why its that way. As a plus though if things with the DW get rocky (and don't they ALWAYS!) I just hop on the tractor and do some "work" on the back of the property.

Live on the 1/4 acre suburban big city (Atl) place, but live for the 215 acres in TN, 200 mi away. Get there roughly every other weekend.

400 acres and its about 1 hour away. Don't know the mileage. Work is about 1 hour in the opposite direction from home, so the friday afternoon trip is 2 hours

Live in a 1/3rd acre suburban house. Land is 37 acres that is 26 miles from the house. Takes about 45 minutes to get there. I get out there 2-3 times a month. Hope to get the time spent there up substantially in the near future.
