How does your garden grow?

Watering this morning. We've been very pleased with the differnence the raised beds have made vs our past endevors with the North Carolina clay LOL World of difference from this year compared to last couple of years.

We have more dirt, and will probably double the beds next year.

Looks great. Healthy and productive

Well things are happening some but still slowly, Have picked a bunch of zukes, a few cukes most are mis shapen, pollination has been poor with all the rain.

And looks like I'll be picking Italian style eggplants next week. Eggplant seem to be doing the best along with the tomatoes. Romas are packed with green tomatoes and the Celebrity are looking pretty good too.

Staked all my peppers yesterday we had wicked windstorm on Monday and it beat them hard again (and some of my mammoth sunflowers too!)

The peppers are recovering once more but slow, one of my worst years for peppers (and for beans but we won't go there :D ) It's still early though not even the end of July yet so there is plenty of time for peppers and most of the hots I pickle but still we be lucky with 45 more days before a frost again

I've pumped the fertilizer to them wicked this week.

Been cool still mid 60's so far today and no sun again.

Waiting for all those Glads to flower here next, I had weeded them and wind knocked them all around too. The ones at work started to bloom about 10 days ago but they were also planted like 6 weeks before mine.

The hybrid sunflowers have started already.

I've had the same experience. Built raised beds two years ago. Both years we got so much rain early then drought after they didn't do well but this year was my best ever. I built nine frames 4' x 10' then tied three together to make three rows thirty feet long. Tomatoes and squash did really well. Not really enough room to plant the amount of snap beans and purple hull peas I'd like to have.

My second crop of tomatoes had to deal with some tough, HOT july weather but are hanging in there!

Picked these this morning. Better Boy and Cherokee Purple. These flats make about 8 we have picked off about 20 plants. We consider that pretty good for this time of the year.

What kind of trays are those?
: The Perma-Nest 1020 tray is built from heavy duty polystyrene plastic. This means it can be reused year after year without needing replaced.
They cost a bit but worth it.

Well things are still slowly happening here. Tomatoes are still green, peppers haven't set a real crop though I'm getting a few. All them gladiolus have only harvested about 20 in bloom so far. Zukes are still kicking out, made bread and butter pickles from most all the cukes I picked pollination has been poor and still a lot are misshapen but just right for slicing into pickles. Will do a batch of hot peppers next...Hungarian Wax sliced into rings it looks like I may have just enough to fill a quart jar right now.

Eggplant its awesome this year harvested 1/2 dozen last week and have more to pick this week too. Made eggplant parm twice now! Sunflowers been blooming ok and cut a nice bouquet of them for a friends birthday this past weekend.

Still been cool, one hot week then bam right back down into the high +40's F overnight Sat and Sunday. Was like +56F this morning

Chard still looks good in the cool and wet and Brussel sprouts are just loving it. All the beans are ancient history now never got any. And made pea soup from what few peas I got this year.

Blueberries have been awesome I picked twice a day 3 times last week Had so many pints I had to freeze a few.

Just tilled today. A bit over 80' wide and about 100' long.

Speaking of blueberries, two new additions to mine:

PLBB.jpg

These came from SC. Apparently spring is a bit farther along there. I've got about 20 bushes of various varieties and sizes, they are just starting to indicate they are coming out of dormancy. We still have some teens and several freezes in the forecast, so these new ones will need to stay in the sun parlor until later. I transferred them from the 1QT containers into the 1GA pot shown.

Wheeee! What a garden! I had one about 50 X 50, and was all I could take care of. I have my onions planted, and will put in my lettuce and radishes asap. About a month early her for tomatoes, peppers and cukes.
