I transplanted more peppers after supper. About 8 or 10 yellow bells and 6 Cayenne. I have so many of the New Mexico Chilies that I will finish out the row of Cayenne with them. I went out about 2200 to turn off the soaker hoses, and we were getting a nice shower. Hope it lasts a while.

I picked the first squash today. About half a dozen, but there will be that many everyday now. Also saw the first young zucchinis. And the Crimson Sweets have vined out a couple of three feet since I was in the garden Thursday morning.

The flowers I planted in the center of the garden {over the new water line} are all coming up good. But it is hard to train myself not to walk through them, as there has been nothing planted there this whole time.

The brown crowder peas are up. They are a little too thick so I thinned a couple of rows of them this morning. There were blooms on the melons this morning, and I noticed them on the pole beans yesterday. And the bush beans are about three inches long. Should be able to pick a few tomorrow. I looked for pinto bean seed today at a couple of feed and seed stores{to go with all my New Mexico Chilies}. They told me just to buy the dried beans at the grocery store, so that is what I did. I have a few in soak now. I'll plant them later this afternoon, or in the morning. Also got a higher fence up for the gourds. They are growing like crazy. I'll pick my first Zuc's in the morning. I thought I had the same amount of Zuc and squash seed, but the squash outnumber them 4 to 1.

I found a Zuc when I waded in to pick the squash. I noticed the corn is tasseling. Not sure how long it's been doing it.

Looking good, Larro! I love the healthy green color of your corn. Won't be long now. My green is not as healthy looking as yours, but looks like I will have some corn on the cob in a couple of weeks. (If I can keep the raccoons away)

I used plenty of 13-13-13 when I side dressed the corn, and keep the soaker hoses going most nights. Yours is looking great though. The crazy late cold last spring spooked me, so I'm later on everything this year. I planted my pole beans and corn together so the beans would climb the corn stalks like we used to do when I was a kid. What I wasn't thinking about was that was field corn, and it got much taller. My corn is just chest high, and may crumble under the weight of the vines before they are through growing.

I should be picking corn any day now. Have baseball sized melons. Been getting tons of beans, squash, a few green peppers and so far about 12 cucumbers. Wife pulled a few carrots yesterday and they are about 5-7" long, if we get some decent ones, it will be the 1st time.

Pulled a couple ears of corn also, mineral oil has killed the large worms:thumbsup:, but also saw some very small ones?, next year I will get a finer point for the syringes.

Good grief, what happened to corn being knee high by the 4th of July?

The way things are going, I'll be lucky to get the seeds in the ground by then! :(

My first planting is knee high. It's also tasseling. If it makes, the ears will be about a quarter the height of the stalks.

Nice melon Dennis. I've only had blooms on mine a few days now, so I'm a little behind you. I picked my first snap beans this morning. And my back thanks me for only planting three short rows:laughing: I saw silks on the stunted corn, so I looked at the other. It had a few silks too. Also saw the first blooms and little peas on the pink eyed purple hulls.

I'd get kicked off the farm!! Melons are what my wife wants the most (the fruit kind:D, but I'm open:shocked:))

My corn was small (3-4') when it tasseled and started to silk. I kept it very damp and will cut back the day before picking. Most are over 5'-6' now and we're close. Cobs seem to be responding really well to the added water.

Some of my stunted corn is between waist and chest high, although there is still some that is knee high. Most of the other corn is head high. I was worried about it not getting tall enough to keep the pole beans off the ground, but it has taken off the last couple of weeks. I keep mine good and wet too.

My tomatoes and corn have been working overtime with these early June temps and rain showers. I love to see them grow

You guys in the south are killing me. :)

I have some two-leaf cucumber seed sprouts as of today. Snap beans haven't made it out of the ground yet. Pictures of bare dirt aren't very interesting I suppose?

That is a nice setup with the beans. My back is wishing I had done something like that with my beans:eek: But it was the bush beans that got me. I picked them for the first time yesterday morning, then later in the day my back went out. I'm blaming the beans if they did it or not. I lined up my sister to pick them and the squash tomorrow. Hope my back is back in one piece by the time they need picking again.
