How does your garden grow?

I wish I had planted more green beans. I'm sure going to miss them when they are gone. I'm going to have to cut up more ground just to get in my 2nd planting of peas.

Yea I'm likening the two planting idea myself. Last year something happened and I couldn't get my corn picked. A buddy had a bunch of extra so I got some of his when I had time. The beans last year were also given to me because mine just didn't produce. So hopefully something won't mess with both harvest this year.

Last year I did four plantings of peas. Purple hulls, black eyed, brown crowder and purple hulls again. This year I bought a big bag of purple hull seeds, so I'll just stick with them as long as I have ground to plant them in. When I used to do truck farming, we would plant an acre of peas every 21 days. But that was back when I was young and dumb and didn't have a bad back.

The star of tonight's supper was the acorn squash {with butter and brown sugar}. My first time cooking them. Margie liked them. And she doesn't like squash. I saved the seeds and will plant a few tomorrow or Friday.

I planted hills of the saved acorn squash seeds between the plants this morning. I figured I had enough room for a row down each side as well. Tomorrow I'll try to do the same with the banana cantaloupe. Mamma wants some for her garden too. She was complaining today about not having enough room to plant everything she wanted. Then she was complaining about not being able to tend what she had. She spends a good deal of every day in the garden. She ain't kicking as high as she used to, but for 87, she's doing pretty good.

I picked up two kinds of apple persimmon and another olive tree in town this afternoon. Will try to get them planted in the morning as well.

I transplanted a row of Anaheim Chili and one of Sweet Mini peppers.

Picked the first produce from the Eastern section of the garden. Both the Iraqi cucumbers and the Filipino pole beans. Since there are both new to me, I was guessing as to when they were ready. The cucumber could have stood a couple more days. And many of the pole beans are so long they are hanging down on the ground. I didn't do a very good job of training the vines.

I got the two apple persimmons and the olive tree planted. They all had fruit on them, so we should have a harvest this year.

I planted a row and a half of cucumbers, and made it down to the graveyard to replace the morning glory vine that had died. Pretty good morning.

Here is a better picture of the cucumber {that Margie took}. It is laying on a sheet of copy paper{for size comparisons}

We've had a mighty wet spring, so we finally got the garden tilled up, got the critter fence set up around it, and got it planted this weekend.

Got the carpet of weeds tilled up and the garden ready to seed

Run the middlebuster around to make a shallow trench

Set the critter fence in the trench, several inches down to make it more difficult for the little $%#&#%$ to dig under the fence

Ready to plant

Garden is in, as of this afternoon

Looking good! I find it amazing how the different grow areas work, you are just starting, and mine is finishing up. Lima's, carrots, and turnips are all that is still around. Oh and my acre peas (texas field peas).

Geez I put the gladiolus bulbs in the ground back on May 3rd or 4th but been so dry here they just sat there doing nothing for several weeks! :confused2:

Finally after a couple of decent rain showers over the past 5 days they are popping up like crazy now :D
