So many to choose from...I've had very good experiences with EdenBrothers.com: Everything under the Sun

Thanks. Last year I bought from the Farmer's Co-Op, a couple of other feed and seed stores and Walmart, plus saved seeds from the freezer and those seeds did fine for me. But we're wanting to get some other types of seeds this year.

I have had trouble finding seeds to the peppers Margie was wanting. We bought a bag of Mini Sweet Peppers and really liked them. I did find this thread about planting the seeds from the store bought peppers. It is pretty interesting. Some of the plants from the saved "Mini" seeds grew huge peppers. If I can't find the seeds to buy, I will try the ones we saved from the bought peppers and see what happens.

I got out and rototilled about 1/4 of the gardens last weekend with the TroyBilt Horse. My little Honda did not want to start up, so I have to look into that. First plantings (peas) should be in a few weeks.

Be a while before I plant anything outdoors/we've gotten over 3 feet of snow in the past 2 weeks.
Anyhow, I've always used Vesey's Veseys
Family run operation with quality seeds aimed mainly at the NE market (shorter seasons) but might be worth a look - they have a Canadian & US website, catalogues are free + you can order on line. They do carry a mix of smaller peppers that I am going to try this year (start the seeds next month).

Thanks for all the input. I bought a lot of {flower, green bean, tomato and pepper} seeds last week when I went to Marianna. So far I haven't been able to find the mini sweet peppers in any of the on-line catalogs. I guess I will try some of the saved seeds and see how they turn out.

I got the last few stakes up and cut up the garden this afternoon. Yesterday, today and tomorrow are reported to be good planting days for above ground crops. I will go ahead and plant a few of the seeds in trays in the morning. I also have some whole tomatoes {from Jackson Farms, a local grower} in the freezer. I'll slice a couple of them up and cover them with potting soil. I've had good results doing this in the past.

I was able to get a few hours behind the TroyBilt today. I now I have the first pass done on about 1/2 my garden area. Looking forward to a good growing year.

The first seeds of the season are in the dirt. Well, in potting soil.

I like the baking trays for seed starting. Have you had good success with them?

They have worked good for me. I also use the bigger trays to hold the young plants after I get them into cups. But when you have them outside, make sure there are some good sized holes in the bottom or they will fill up with water when it rains. Here is a picture from last spring.

I got my first seeds in the dirt this afternoon. I think they will be safe from frost by the time they come up, but I stuck with stuff I could afford to lose, just in case.

My peas have not come up yet, I suspect the will in a few days. I stuck with climbing snow peas. Nothing like fresh peas in the garden. I cut scion wood today for my apple and pear tree grafting, I have about 30 starts to graft this year.

I no longer plant many seeds or grow any of my own starts...

Instead, I dig all of my cana bulbs each fall, store them in a cool place and replant them in the early spring. I always have a LOT of them left over, so I take them to my local green house, where the owner trades me all the veggie plants and seeds I need, even up for them...

She sells them and everyone is happy...

I sell potted Cana's for the greenhouse each year at my market

At the farm were I work we grow the tall gladiolus for cutting and sell them bunched at the farm stand and farmers market. My boss never digs up his 500 bulbs to save, just replaces them each year so in my off time I dig and save all the bulbs I want. I used to grow glads before and I will continue too. I have close to 1000 bulbs right now and years ago when I just a boy there was a local gladiolus farm here in town. People came from far and wide to see them blooming and buy flowers! :D

We had three glad farms here in Calhoun and Jackson County Florida. One of them bought a couple thousand acres just to the south of my place. But most of the glads have moved down to Mexico now. They grow cotton, wheat, sod and run cows where the glads used to grow. For years my Mamma would go down and get a truck load of the flowers after they had shipped.
