How do you store your Mid Mount Mower Deck for the winter?

Have you ever used that deck? It is really, really, really clean. As in it's clean.

Had hoped to get mine in the shed this weekend and, well, it didn't happen. Much didn't happen.

Yes I have all this past summer since July. I just wash and wax every second mowing. Just a little ****! I figure if and when it gets scratched I will have it powder coated.

I clean it up, apply a light coat of yellow to the underside to prevent rust, remove sheave guards and clean underneath, remove the drive belt to prevent rust spots on the sheaves, set it vertically against and chain it to the wall to prevent injuries.

Kenney G My friends think I'm crazy. I clean and wax everything I own all the time. A friend of mine was over one Saturday and I was waxing my car trailer and all he could do was shake his head and call me nuts.

I had always stored mine flat. Usually under my Jeep that I never drive in the Winter. This Fall I got energetic one evening over a couple Beers and cobbled up this vertical storage method. Scrounged some old wheels, used cold roll rod for axles on the rigid rears. Scrounged a couple swivel casters and a piece of angle iron welded to cold roll for the front. The spring loaded adjustment pins used on the deck casters holds the cold roll in place. Now it takes up less space and can be easily moved to clean around it.

I stored my 54C mower like that the first year and found a puddle of oil that leaked out the vent over the winter. Now I just leave it flat.

I have a similar trailer but rather than wax, it has something green on the black paint and it's not green paint.
