is it "keyoti" or coyote" or something else? Not trying to be disrespectful but there are no dealers of this brand in my area and I just don't know how to pronounce the name.

Thanks,
Chris

Just like the dog.

Coyote.

My five year old daughter keeps correcting me, I insist on pronouncing as spelled.

It's "Coyote". I've been corrected many times. I still err and say "Keyote" occasionally. To remind myself, I keep thinking I'd rather belong to a "Pack" of canines than a pack of little metal things......

It's "Coyote".

Yep, but isn't it pronounced "Ki' oti"? Some people call coyote "ki' oat" (silent e) and others calle it "Ki' oti".

I don't think the "e" is silent. It must be the east coast pronunciation of Coyote (headquarters is in North Carolina). I say "Kai oh tea" as in Coyote ugly. When I first saw the word I pronounced it "Key aw tea" but that is clearly wrong as the animal mascot makes clear.

Just as I suspected, I have been saying it the wrong way. Thanks for the replies. I never even noticed the animal as part of the logo:eek: . Guess I will have to pay up on that friendly wager.

This post reminds be of the "how many guys does it take to screw in a light bulb " joke.

If it's "Coyote" then we have a problem with the "Welcome to the Pack". Coyotes are solitary hunters.

When I lived in New Mexico, the Packs would send up a huge chorus of yapping and howling voices when they (or one of them) made a kill. It always sounded to me like they were having a celebration. If they were hunting alone, they were sure as heck celebrating as a pack.

We have loads of them here in NY's Southern Tier. It is true that they are generally solitary hunters when it comes to small animals like mice & voles. However, they often hunt in packs for larger game, like deer. So, everyone is correct depending on your vantage point.

The solitary ones are called "transients", implying this situation is either unusual or temporary. We hear them calling all the time and it clearly isn't just solitary hunters.
Here's a site for info on social organization of coyotes.

I thought Asian pronunciation was Key oatey, but my dealer says the company pronounces it Coyote. I thought DaeDong was pronounced Die Dong, but if they were selling the tractors with that name in North America, I imagine they would change the pronunciation of that, too.
