On my Cub and my NAA, the bolts/nuts attaching the combined intake/exhaust manifold are very hard to access. On the Cub, two bolts are easily reachable with a socket wrench. The others have part of the manifold directly infront of them so that I might get a socket on them, but no way to apply a handle. As I see it, I will have to use a box wrench and rotate a small fraction of a turn at a time.

Is there a trick that everyone except me knows? Or is this a question for Soundguy?

Ok, so I asked either a dumb question, or a difficult one.

A ratcheting box wrench might speed things along if it will go in that small space.

that or a bent wrench to get in to the recess.. or a hex headed socket that you can put a wrench on.

I've made a few of those.. short cheap pakistan socket with a nut welded to it.... then use a wrench on it

Thanks - It isn't just Detroit that makes unnecessarily hard to service designs.

there are wose.. believe me....

wait till you have to tighten the lower 3pt lift pin inthe axle trumpet... ( gotta pull the axle and trumpet, and then the chunk, if ya wanna do both sides.. :) )tart button dont screw into the shifter cover either.. that's a 'D' hole, and retainer nut is onthe bottom.. so shifter cover comes off.

not bad on that 4 speed.. not as fun on a 5spd though.finger twisters and knuckle skinners too.. :)

still, in general.. ford tractors are still among the easiest I've worked on.
