How do my axle weight look?

I've never actually weighed my axles before, but figured I should. I think they look good, but figured I'd share and see if anything looks goofy.

2005 K2500 Duramax/Allison Crew Cab Short Bed.
2008 Load Max 25' 14k lb Gooseneck trailer. (approx wt - 5000lbs)
Cargo: 8000 lb pulling truck

Here are the weights as I pulled across the scale:

Front Axle Weight: 4240 lbs
Front & Rear Axle Combined Weight: 9640
Total Load (Trailer axles + truck axles) : 20940
Trailer Axles: 11280

I don't have the truck alone axle weights.

So it looks like my front axle is 4240, my rear axle is 5400. I'd guess I am putting about 1720 lbs of pin weight on the hitch or 13%

Hows this all look to you seasoned trailer draggers

Looks fine. I would bet the trailer doesn't quite weight that much so your pin weight may be slightly less.

What is the GVWR of the truck though?

you are over your GVWR on the truck, move the pulling truck back a couple inches(on the trailer) from where it was parked when you weighed it.

As stated you are over your GVWR on your truck, a short comming of most 3/4 tons, especially GM. You either have 8,800 or 9,200# GVWR package. Look at your door sticker.

Move the load back to lose some pin weight.

Unless it looks ugly or Handles ????? , I would run as is . Although I would note the load position this time and if hauled again would move back maybe 6" . On a Semi trailer , sliding the rear tandems on the trailer will shift 300 to 500 lbs. forward or back depending on which way you go and the space between holes on the trailer . On shorter trailer , 6" of load movement may be all you need , ( not familiar with that length trailer ) .

Saturday , I used my old '84 ford f250 4x4 and hauled 1.96 yards of sand , which weighed out to about 4400 lbs. . Truck empty weighs 5400 , loaded on way out was a tick over 10,800 . Technically over GVWR , But 1) Looked Good , No severe squatting in back , 2) Handled Like a Dream . No Sway and still had plenty of spring action , And Also had good braking . This truck also has progressive over load springs .

I don't run like that all the time but my point is that you may run it like that this time and like the ride and handling , then next time make it legal and not like the handling . GVWR is a number , What matters most is vehicle control .

How many times do you see somebody going down the road pulling a trailer and having all kinds of issues keeping it on the road . Technically they are within GVWR and the rated towing capacity of the rig , BUT their weight distribution is ?????? Small load or Large , I have seen both .
