How do I get rid of a ton of roots?

Spent a couple of hours today between the MB and the rake. Got a lot more roots out, more than I expected. Still a lot to go, but it's ready for the tiller now:

(No, the big stumps in the back are not part of this. They were taken down last year to be used for firewood.)

Looks great, from there I would stick the mower on top of it...grind away and level out...
Once you get it to a certain point ...digging up more roots is just more work..

After digging out what I could and breaking the rest up with the MB, I couldn't really walk through there. I had to basically crawl over it on the tractor to keep from being tossed out of the seat. Once I changed to the rake and started dragging the high spots off, it got a lot easier. The last few passes I could do at more like tilling speed.

I think you have done a GREAT job with just the middle buster and rake. I know you don't want to spend $$$$ but I was going to suggest - look for a used four shanked ripper. My neighbor has a LARGE seven shank one that I borrowed. Removed the outboard shank on each side and it worked well on my M6040. Multiple shanks keep more of the roots contained. Every so often - stop, lift the implement - drop the roots.

Come back later and collect the piles with the grapple.

I have a bunch of standing water at my house right now! I'm super jealous of this dry dirt.
