How do I correct engine surging?

Does your carb have an impulse line going from the carb to the engine ? If so check it for cracks or a loose clamp on either end.

Check for air leaks around the intake gaskets around the carb and the manifold. Spray carb cleaner with engine running around the outside of those areas. If the rpms dip while spraying you have found a leak.
