How do I connect 1/4" rope to 3/16" cable

you may just want to have a extra anchor that you can snap onto the bottom of the one that you have . leave about a two fathom rope on the new anchor and snap it onto the rope at the bottom for holding power when you need it. if it gets really ugly add the extra anchor about 6 fathoms up the main anchor line. this will keep the anchor laying flat thus increasing the hold power. Or a trick I used to use was a couple of 50lbs trolling cannon balls snapped onto the anchor line about six fathoms up from the anchor . this should take out all the bounce and give you the hold that you need . it is also easy to take off as you pull up the line. you can reduce the weight if you have less than a 35ft boat.

sorry I digressed from your question on the last post . you should put a plastic or galvinized wear grommet on the splice on each end of the joint splices for the rope and cable.
