after reading my survey question responses earlier. I took a trip to a few dealers that I had to get parts from any who! while there I asked them to price out a 84 inch landscape rake. 1st dealer sold land pride 84 inch (25 series) he would put in the back of my truck on the spot 825 plus tax. Second dealer sold woods he could have a 84 medium duty rake if I waited until he got a bigger order or wood for 900 including tax. I was curious if these are in the ball park or way high. I did not dicker at all just said thanks I am only looking.

I'll probably take some heat for this one, but unless you have some really heavy duty uses for one, I'd take a look at the King Kutter rakes. I bought my 72" two years ago from Atwoods. TSC shows them on their web site in my area for $330.00 for the 72". They don't show a price for the 84", but KK does make them up to 96". I realize a lot of folks don't think much of the KK products, but I have had no trouble with any of their attachments that I own. I have used my rake to drag up bricks, chunks of wood, steel, etc., and only have one tine slightly bent out of line (about 3/4") from the others. For the limited uses I had for a rake, I just couldn't justify spending as much on a rake as I would on a decent rotary cutter.

Awful pricey, unless gauge wheels are included. Or do they have both index and tilt?

I'm in the process of buying a light duty 7 footer right now - index only, no gauge wheels - for $399

You will get no heat from me.
Most of my attachments are King Kutter. I've done some minor modifications to a few. Some have been repainted, but they work fine and I have never had a problem with any.

Most posts seem to say the KKs do the intended job, just look awful. John

I have a KK tiller, 48" and love how it works, even on my bx2200 tiller. I also have a 60" KK rake, and other than 2 tabs causing to not fit well (Pats system will extend enough to make it work) it does fine. I have not used it in deep soil as of yet, but have no doubt it will do fine. Mine was 299.00 from a local dealer

$825 for a 84" Land Pride LR2584 rake sounds about right. I have used my LR1584 for several jobs around my place. It works great. I have added gage wheels. They make a good piece of equipment even better. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
You may be able to find a KK cutter at TSC. If the store that you stop at does not have one in stock they can check to see if another one has one in stock. I think the KK will do the job as well as my Land Pride.
I bought the land Pride because my dealer had one that was used at the Oakland Country Fair. It looked like new and was $500. Normal price is around $700.

I paid $830 for my land pride 1572 with the big wheels last year, prices in new england tend to be higher though. it was the best price i could find on a well built rake.

For reference, I built a super heavy duty 72" landscape rake last summer and the cost for materials was $210 for steel/nuts/bolts/pins and $140 for tines. I beat this rake to death and it took it in stride.

Today, the steel will be a lot more so that would be about $400 or so to build a super heavy duty one. So I figure $800-$900 for a heavy duty rake is about right figuring in labor and shipping to the dealer. A light weight TSC copy can be built for well under $300 including tines.

My Ford heavy duty 84" rake with guage wheels and 1 hydraulic cylinder cost me $1400 in 1987.
