My gold and silver continue to do good. I bought BTC (bitcoin, kinda) it's down and bitcoin will now be found out as a scam. Bought Nvidia, also down. That was a gaurenteed hit. Waiting for them to go out of business.
I bought Norwegian cruise lines after the scamdeminc ended. Everybody is going jump on a cruise ship. It's down 20%

Enough about your good investments , how about your under-performers? 😂

Isn't it nice to bank profits rather than have paper profits.
Yes it is.
You're learning.
Bah, I’ve had a Fidelity trading platform for 15 years. Been buying & selling a while.
Just don’t know what opportunities are out there right now!
I feel like tech is a bubble or about to be one.

I like the looks of mineral, petroleum type of investments, but they are probably slow growth. I took a shot on a critical minerals company, but it’s been a bust.

This is mostly fun money-nothing serious. I have larger sums in mutual funds like FXAIX that are doing the “real work” towards my retirement goals

I cannot believe how much gold and silver have done for my retirement.

At some point in the near future, I'm going to cash out of my gold and silver to build a new shed.

Swapped my FXAIX for FGRTX and FLCSX. All are blended funds but the two I swapped for seem to be doing a few percentage points better. All seem to be invested in the same companies but at different percentages.

My experience investing in single companies has been bad and I stick to mutual funds.

We switched from mutual funds to ETFs on the advice of our investment advisor. Usually the company has both types of funds with similar objectives. ETFs trade anytime, not just at the close and with lower or no fees. So far ours have done well, still above the 10% annual target we have set.

IMHO, too much volatility in the market right now.

One would think HealthCare and RealEstate holdings to be doing well, but...

FDRXX and looking at short term CDs.

FXAIX at 14.3% for the year. Not bad, but looking for alternatives. I have plenty plunked down in there. I worry about the looming tech bubble. It’s gonna happen.

I also have FGRTX and it is like 23% this year.

it seems everyone is worried about the looming tech bubble POP, yet most are staying in, hoping to ride the rise and then be among those clever ones who get out in time.
All I can say is, good luck.

So far so good. Tech is not going away. Up 31.5% YTD for me. Yes, it's a roller coaster lately but the numbers don't lie...really depends on how you are investing, short or long term.

I have too much in FSELX, Fidelity Select Semiconductor, but have made a ton on it. The price swing for the year has been, up to $37, down to $22, up to $47, down to $41!

Told my wife we had lost over $20,000 two days in a row and she wanted to know if I was upset and I told her it was still priced a dollar/share higher than I had hoped for it reaching at the end of the year.

My plans for the next year is to hold this fund until it reaches $60, if it ever does, then diversify into other sectors.

Fingers crossed.

Not bad for a conservative portfolio. Ended the year with a cumulative 12.33%. Above our target of 5-10%. Happy with that as our money market and muni bonds funds are at 3-4%. Other accounts did 14%-20%.

Well, our Vanguard portfolio has several buckets. From ROTH IRAs to our regular brokerage. The highest return for 2025 was 21.8, the lowest was 17.8.

Not unhappy about it as we have always "planned" for a 7% average to have a successful portfolio. We have doubled that for 20 years.

My Schwab was up 16.06. Not great.

Our HSA increased 21.8%

Sons College 529 was up 18.8%

Happy New Year

My Fidelity account shows a return of 27.6% for 2025. It shows we took out more than I thought but we sat and added it up and it was correct. Taxes ate us up last year and I hope this year will be better. We upped our withholding by quite a bit so I have my fingers crossed.

Dang, 7 percent. Wow. I have been ultra conservative in my estimates with my models tracking like 1 percent above inflation.

I need to loosen up. LOL.

I began investing when I was 27. Then I made all of my retirement projections on an average 7% annual return on investments. We have actually averaged 14% over the past two decades. I still plan at 7%. Now, when I'm 60 (48 now) when we are drawing on it, I plan for a 4% return. We will likely have more, but 4% is the safest bet I suppose.

The reason I retired at 47 was because my 7% plan was much more conservative than what we actually achieved. So I shaved 13 years off my work plan.

I maxed a 401k and two Roth IRAs and an HSA for a lot of years.

I also started investing and planning for retirement in my 20's which everyone should do, living below their means. My Dad retired at 56 and I waited until 61 but should have retired earlier. Retirement at 47 is amazing.
