Every man needs a couple of tractors around! I have two here and access to two more at my BIL's and I am still looking at Craigslist. I'd love to have a JD MT someday. We use the MX5100 when cutting firewood to haul wood to the woodshed and the Farmall to pull the woodsplitter or trailer. Wife drives the MX5100 I drive the old Farmall that her daddy turned over once about 40 years ago so she doesn't much like that tractor. My BIL feels the same about the Farmall.

My dealer suggested this when he brought the 40. "You should keep the 35 too, you can never have too many tractors".

My better half smiled, looked him right and the eye and said" you need help loading that tractor?" LOL

He got the point! :laughing:

all things considered, my John Deere LT160 is really only half a tractor then. It has attitude and character though, and it needs a big brother.

I let my better half know about your opinions on two tractors and she is still being stubborn. We will have been married 36 years next week and I still have a hard time talking sense into her sometimes.:confused3: One of my sons even offerred to keep one of the tractors at his house if I wanted to. I guess I will just have to keep the Kubota, sell the Kioti and start looking for my next tractor. I think the L2900 will have plenty of power, now I will just keep my eyes open for a good quality newer tractor with a hydro transmission.

Here's what you do. Try humor. Make a photocopy of your marriage vows--or get one off the net and insert into it the language of the two, or more (think ahead) tractor requirement. Maybe she'll show pity?

A good friend of mine bought a farm about 3 years ago, the deal included an older International gas tractor, I think it's a 275 or a 276. Anyway, shortly after that he bought a diesel version of the same tractor for spare parts, ended up getting it running and kept them both. He sold the diesel last fall, which kind of surprised me.

So, I asked him, "Since you won't have a spare tractor to haul you out when you're stuck, what do you plan on getting to replace it with?" Not a word of a lie, he looked at me, grinned and said "A phone.."

I live about a half mile away..
