I need to mount a winch on my trailer for occasional use but am stumped for ideas how to do it. I've searched for a photo but found only a couple.

My trailer is a Corn Pro 18' equip hauler and here's a picture of one off the net.

The winch is a low cost Badlands because I'll rarely use it. I'd like to mount low and have it be easily removable for times I don't need it. I can buy a mounting plate drilled for the winch so that's a start. Here are some pics of one off the net but I can't see how it's mounted. It could be bolted to a plate that's bolted to the metal frame of the trailer but I can't see.

What do you think? Does anyone have a trailer with a winch on it or ideas? Any advice appreciated.

I welded the mounting plate to the trailer and bolted winch on and off as needed
No welder? Use U bolts (you can get square U bolts if needed) to attach the plate.
My winch has a set of relays that the power supply is connected to and I mounted it on the back side of the plate off to one side.
I made a cord to go from winch to the 7 pin on the back of the truck but quickly found that the circuit could not handle the AMP draw of the winch.
Was going to run a 30 AMP circuit with a plug to the back of the truck but decided that with the infrequent use to just use my twenty foot jumper cables and go right to the battery of the truck.
With a little more thought I’m sure you’ll figure it out.
Good luck and shoot us a picture of it installed
We here love pictures of stuff like that

I never use a winch on my car hauler trailer (yet), but a friend wanted to borrow it to retrieve some collectible cars. So I welded a 2" receiver to the front bar with some gussets to the deck for added strength to keep from bending the bar.. He had a winch and mounted it to a plate that is made to go into a 2" receiver. Easy peasy. He could pin the winch into the receiver when needed and carried the battery in his truck. Brought it out when needed. Put it away when not.

I do the same, no more often than I use the winch it just is not worth the effort to hard wire a circuit for it. My jumper cables do just FINE.

I'm learning fast and a receiver hitch welded or bolted to the trailer is now my plan. I can get the Badlands winch cradle with a stub adaptor for a receiver hitch so that will work fine.

Does anyone have pictures of what they have or what they have built for the receiver hitch on the trailer?

For yours..if that jack is welded on I would recess the 2in reciever through the front lower bar. Weld it to the lower bar and the jack. I would still put a brace on the bottom of the reciever. Minimal material needed and prob the strongest your going to get on that trailer.
