NEW HOLLAND UNVEILS WORLD’S FIRST METHANE-POWERED TRACTOR

Innovation and invention in ag stuff is moving at warp speed and faster than most of us can comprehend. I hope this is a good thing.

Just the ticket. Maybe I can plumb up one of my heifers to it, they do a lot of methane production....:p

I do know one thing for certain and that is, this season will be extremely tough for producers in any aspect of crop production because the cost of inputs has spiked with the current inflation morass but the price of grain has not kept pace with the cost of inputs.

Really, like battery powered tractors, I'm not interested because the infrastructure isn't there to support either. Manufacturers build that stuff to look good and really don't expect many sales. Why they are all special order. No manufacturer is going to build that stuff and let it sit on some dealers lot for years, waiting for a potential buyer to come along.

Kind of like all the hoopla with Fords and their electric pickup trucks. I have yet to see even one on the highway and I live in Michigan, close to Detroit so if there were any around, I'd probably see at least one. So far NADA. Not even one in camo which is usually how they road test the stuff. Camo and a manufacturers plate.

Come to think about it, I haven't see a full sized Ford Bronco either. Just the mini one based on the Escape platform. Must not have any chips or something.

I will say the jam packed holding lots around Toledo are now basically devoid of Stellantis vehicles. Must have gotten in a chip shipment. 2 months ago they were stacked up like cordwood unless they moved them all up to metro Detroit.

I do know it was so bad (in Toledo) that the hostelers were pulling chips from drive able units and putting them in shuttle units so they could move them to holding lots.

The UAW is strong in auto plants. keep them working, making vehicles even if none are complete.

I find it all pretty interesting.

Just an old thread here but wondering how/where one can find stats on a thread as shown?

Edit: Sorry, was right in front of my nose and just never paid any attention. :)

I could see them being worthwhile for big dairies that are already setup to recover methane from their digesters and use it to run generators, add a compressor and some tanks and you dont have to buy diesel.

These tractors are also multi-fuel so not just dependent on one fuel. If sales are slow early on, typically manufacturers will then lease them and then auction at the end of the lease or leases.
